![]() While we took the ride, they wandered up and down the cars trying to engage the passengers, but it turned out to be 2 1/ 2 hours of annoying banter especially by the two ladies. When they did get back there were about a dozen of them. Turns out they were riding the first run and weren't back yet. but there was only one tent with a pick up truck parked next to it and not a soldier in sight. We were promised an "encampment" where we could talk to the soldiers. Rolling stock is well maintained and there are a number of parked cars to look at. There is a limited length of run available of course like on any scenic railroad, and there really wasn't much to see on the route, but the narration was nice. We appreciate the volunteer hours that go into running such an attraction and were impressed with the staff of the railroad itself. We arrived early and were able to pick up our tickets in the station that has a very nice display, a cute giftshop and great restrooms. It had rained in the morning, but we had tickets for the afternoon ride and it had cleared off nicely by then. We were in town for a wedding, so we had only one day to visit and chose the weekend they were having a civil war re-creation. Easy to find, with more than adequate parking. When we travel, we concentrate on historic sites and train related things, and this attraction fit the bill perfectly.
